Ab-ilicious

Tuesday, December 6th, 2005

I somehow managed to watch a bit of early morning TV. Now the show has a Classic presenter, he has basically been on since the begining of TV in Australia. Anyhow the show, GMA (Good Morning Australia) is basically a mix of Infomercials, Cooking presentations, Interviews and goofing off with the lighting and sound guys. I was watching the end of some cooking thing, with the Chinese lady. She was making some fish dish. Then they cut to Moyra the Infomercial Queen in Australia, and what was she selling this time……No not steak knifes or slicey things that can cut your hand off. It was the revolutionary NEW fabulous-ly Awesome Ab workout of the 21st Century. It was sooooo good that i can’t even remember it’s name!

Now my buff (pun not intended) here is WHY THE HELL DO WE WORRY ABOUT ABS SO GOD DAMN MUCH!

Sure they are good to have, sure it looks good when chicks don’t have bellies that hang over there jeans and halfway down there ankles. And yes, sometimes it is nice to appreciate how much effort a man has gone too to get those rock hard abs, cause i know the pain that he has had to endure to get that far! I’m sure that the ladies aren’t at all objecting to the fact that rock hard abs are socially acceptable either. I am all about Core Strength.. it is ‘da bomb in my book. I love it, i would do more of it, if it didnt hurt so much, and i didn’t loose so much god damn weight when i exercised!

Anyhow back to my main point, why do we love working the abs, or more correctly selling machines that people buy to work there abs only to put under the bed in 4 weeks time after spending stupid amounts of money on them. I think it is all a marketing ploy to make people buy useless crap, oh i think that is stating the obvious, sorry. The contraptions look like some sorta weird alien sex toy, freaky in all senses of the word. I am starting to ramble and rant.. i should stop, but darn it is fun to be incoherent sometimes :P

I have been at my PC for most of today… learning CSS via the westciv courses. I think i shall leave it there, to many CSS things going around in my head…and im only half way thru it as well :S

Weigh it up, again

Thursday, September 15th, 2005

Well considering the amount of responses i have had to my last post about this, i think it has finally hit me. I really am to skinny. I was looking at myself in the mirror today, when i noticed VEINS ON MY TUMMY!! Scared the shit out of me. I was like, WTF??? (What the fuck, for you n00bs) when did this happen. They have never been there before. Not just little ones faint ones either, you can acutally feel them. Like if they were in your arm, raised and all.

So i went into a health food store today, and asked about weight suppliments. Bloody hell!! talk about expensive, $45 for 1kg of carb loaded stuff. The dude said that i would use it all in 1 week, then he started going on about geting the 2kg tub, that costs like $85……you think i would be made of money or something. I might and pick some up from the discount bin!! I am thinking that i just might start by eating more carbs, ie potato, pasta and rice.

I have found that the only thing keeping my pants up, besides the belt are my hips :( Scary stuff. I should take some photos, just so i know never ever to get this skinny again. The good news is that apparently guys metabolisms tend to slow down when they hit 25. He also said that genetics have a large part to play in it all. My dad didn’t start getting a gut until he was like 35-40. Oh well guess that everything isn’t that bad, my abs look great :P

Mmm, Carbs… i’m off for some hot Chips from the F&C shop, Champions

Bee’s Knees

Sunday, September 11th, 2005

I fucked my knee again. I don’t think that i hurt it as bad this time, but it still hurts when i turn in particular directions. Damn running, might have to give it up and become a weight’s guru. I even stopped before it started to hurt!! I am starting to think that by body is starting to decompose early, well maybe not decompose- just break down. I suppose all the shit that it has had to stand up to thru the years. I have had a good run, compared to lots of other people. Who Well at least the parts of my body that i’ve broken aren’t giving me stress. I am thinking i will give running a rest for say, 6 weeks, and then see how it stands up.

Value your body, Champions. It’s the only one you get :P

City to Surf III-The Saga Continues

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

Well i got my results for the city to surf. NOT HAPPY JAN. The stupid timing thing, BROKE!!! they weren’t even going to have finishing times up at all. I recieved an email explaining what happened. I don’t like it, i smell something mouldy. I think that are blaming the rain for making it stop. I don’t care what they say, it took me around 4 mins or more to get over the start line. I’m claiming i did 12k in under an hour. You can try and talk me out of it, i won’t listen. *la la la la la la la*

This from the email that i got today….

“The extremely wet conditions at the start certainly added another dimension to the event, but judging by the positive atmosphere at both the 12km and 4km start lines, did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of participants. Not only did the rain result in a sodden start, but also caused a number of logistical problems for event organisers, staff and volunteers. At the start and finish lines a number of generators malfunctioned resulting in disruption to communication, the band and some catering facilities. Along the course, the volume of water on the roadways in places caused some challenges for participants hoping for a clear run.

Timing Equipment

The very heavy, prolonged rainfall in the early morning also resulted in extensive damage to the timing equipment at the 12km and 4km start lines and as a result, start times were not able to be recorded by the timing mats. Fortunately, the weather had lifted sufficiently at City Beach Oval to allow for accurate recording of the finish times for participants wearing transponders. The result of this is that unfortunately net times are unavailable for the timed participants in the event, however gun times were recorded. “

Lame i say, generators failing. C’mon im sure there could have been other backup generators???
Guess i’m just pissed that i dont have an offical time to say, yes i did. That is the best race that i have EVER run. I felt as though i could have kept running all day, you know when you are just in the groove? i was in that groove, it was great. Oh well, im sure there is always next year….

Exercise is the spice of life champions.

Good sore

Monday, August 29th, 2005

I woke up today stiff all over. It was a feeling that i tend to like and dispise at the same time. I like it cause i can look back at why i’m sore. Running the City to Surf was great fun. I just need a good massage or a bit of deep heat to help get rid of the soreness. My shoulders are the sorest, cause they were in the same position for like 1hr. I tried to run with my arms by my side, then i thought i looked like a bit of a dick. So i stopped that. I guess water will be my friend today as well. I think it helps to release the toxins that build up in the muscles. Oh water, how i love thee. I think you shall be called “waterina”. Right now that sounds a bit nutso, i think that i should lay off the vodka water. Oh i forgot to update you on the knee, it is ok now, just must have been a temporary thing. It is still stuffed, lucky i’m sitting down all day in front of my PC doing assignments. I’ll test it out later on this week when i go for a jog :) Still might need the nurse to look at it though;).

Good sore is fun champs. :)

Damn Knee’s

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

Can i get another knee? Mine is playing up. This is the first time that it has done this, i can’t walk on it. Feels like i have got one of the nerves caught whilst running or sitting in the car for 1 hr back home. Damn it kills. I have to resort to hopping around the house, let me tell you. It is hard work, i have to leap over things, like heaters. Mainly cause i’m to lazy to move them :P I think i need a nurse. She would help me, get better. Oh well, i can dream can’t i?

Champions, blog day is coming, 31st August.

City to Surf II

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

Well i finished. I felt really good thru out the whole race. I did get a small stich for a bit, and a bit of muscle cramp, damn calves and bitumen don’t agree. I tried to run on the grass as much as possible. The weather, oh how i love thee, but really did you have to piss down cats, dogs, buckets and firetrucks full of water. I haven’t been that wet in ages. I think by the end of the race, i was carrying about 3 kg more, just from water in my shoes and in my shirt. Luckly i wore my waterproof cycling pants. Alas they aren’t that waterproof, just dry really quick, so i was soaked to the bone. It was the best run i have been on, i felt like i could have kept going for another 2-4 km. I was pumping, the hills that people said were killers, were like bumps in the horizion. I tried to sprint out the last 2km, i went a bit early. I so i slowed down a bit more, then in the last 500-600 metres, i went for the full sprint. I was flying past heaps of people. I still felt great until about 50m from the line, as i was weezing, and finding it hard to breath, so i pushed harder. I then though,

“mmmm, maybe i should slow down cause i don’t want to drop dead just before finishing”

So i slowed down abit, helped though to have been blocked in so i couldn’t overtake.

I want to do it again, maybe not today but in a few weeks. It was fun. I did get my time, although it will be adjusted later on, i did 12km in 1 hr 03 mins 37 sec. I’m hoping that comes down to around the 58 min or so mark. I will then be over the moon, and jumping toward the sun. :P

I jumped on the bus back to town, and talked to a guy who works for the City of South-Perth in the Parks and Gardens area. Nice guy, so it looks like i have a contact there now, sweet. I drove home after getting changed in the carpark. Now i need to sleep, cause im buggered. I called in sick to work as well, don’t think i could talk to people now. I’m sleepy, so I will now head off to the land of Noddy and Big Ears and the Big Red Car.

Exercise is great Champions, you should try it :)

City to Surf

Friday, August 26th, 2005

Well, the time is apon me where i must go and try and kill myself in a 12km “fun run” Sure it will be fun, almost 5 thousand other people running to, at least i will be overtaking lots of slow people. That should boost my ego up a bit. I think i should get in around the 1hr mark. Anything less will be great. Although i haven’t gone for a run in the last few weeks, to busy with work, study and other things. I really should have gone for a run this arvo, but instead buggered around on my PC and chatted on IRC. Oh well guess i will make it, might be a little bit slower than i hoped. I’ll update you guys when i find out what time i did. I am meant to be going to work after running, but i don’t think that will happen. I think that i will call in sick or something. I have tried to give someone else the shift, but no one wants it. I really don’t want it. I also just got a new job, but that is a different post.

If anyone that lives in perth, wants to see lots of sad people running, you know where to go. My number in the race is 3238. Watch out for me :)

Exercise is the devil, i love the devil champions :)

Avon Decent

Saturday, August 6th, 2005

I went up to watch people shoot over rapids today in a white water race called the avon decent. It was quite fun, my friend Abby was in the race, she was towards the back of the field, but i still gave her a big cheer. I also did the same with her mum too, as she was right behind her. They decided to go over the side where there was an actual rapid, but there just wasn’t enough water for them to get down without bouncing around in there kayaks.
The fun was had earlier in the morning when people were trying to shoot the rapids, well they were going over the poly-pipe. It is just like irrigation pipe, lade out over the rapids, for the power boats and kayaks to go over. This is because the water level would be too low for them to get over without this there. Many more boats would be damaged without this.
It was a nice day, i managed to have about 5-6 naps thru out the day, cause the sun was so warm it sent me to sleep. Plus i sat up last night talking on IRC, till around 2.30am then got up at 7am. I love that so much, best part of my day, esp after work too.

The reason i went to watch the avon decent is because i want to do it next yr, with any luck i will have a kayak in the next few months. I can then start practicing all the safety moves that i might need. I also want to do the hawksberry classic, which is a 111km race that is run over 24hrs. Extreme sorta sport, but looks like so much fun. Hopefully i can get into that as well. The avon is over 2 days and is like 130km.

I will kayak in a race one day, champions

Not so good

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

Well this is bad, i’ve done it this time. Totally screwed things up.
I forgot to have a drink before my run this morning and walked about 2/3 of the way. I knew i shouldn’t have eaten that nurtri-grain before going for a run. Gave me an almighty cramp. I also found out that i didn’t drink any water before leaving home, so that didnt help either. I wasn’t happy jan. My joints all seized up and it was hard to run, damn Calf muscles with lack of water to help them move.
I’ll get them one day, that i promise champions.
