Well i finally did it. I quit my job. Not that i have anything else to move onto, i was just sick of it. Funny thing was that my boss really liked me. I never knew, he always seemed funny to me. Now i just need to go and find another job, one in IT or something like that. So i finish up on Thursday for the Landscaping part and Sunday for the Retail Nursery part. So last chance to see me in a fluro pink shirt- EVER!!

I am happy and scared at the same time, what if i can’t find a new job soon enough?? You know the normal problems and worries. Good news though, i have an interview for a job on Monday mid-morning. Lets hope that this one is a bit better than the last

Right, as you all know. I work outside… being the beginning of summer the flies have just started. Now i dont know if is just the flies or me. They just seem to be really dumb and fucking annoying! The worst is when they get behind your sun glasses, and rattle around between your eyelids and the glasses frame. Kind of like a mini massage i supose you could say. Not a very nice massage, but still, its free. Seriously they are just stupidly fucking annoying.

Now i have had the unfortunate luck of a “catch and release” incident with flies. I was breathing (as you do), i closed my mouth to stop the fly going in my mouth, cause there were so many of the little bastards around. I managed to catch said fly in my lips, thought “WTF! i caught a fly with my lips”. Then proceeded to promptly opened them up and let him fly away. But not before a stern talking too mind you!…. just so he dont get any further ideas or go jabbering on with his cousins and other relatives about what a fun time it is getting stuck in other peoples lips. Hopefully this can be counted as some sorta community service notice against flies.

Right, i might not have been doing it for long. That is besides the point. 2 days is a long time I have been studying Landscaping for about 3 months now (plus another 6 months doing Horticulture). I have just picked up 2 days a week working from the Retail Nursery where i work on weekends. Yes they have a Landscaping company coming off the Nursery. Well anyhow, i just like the manual labour.

I used to work in IT. I was a support/ training/ hardware/installs guy. I used to travel heaps, i liked it. Then i got bored, and questioned why i was doing IT. I had studied IT for 3 years at College, and came out with a Diploma. I played “the game” for 2 years, then decided to move on. Now don’t get me wrong….i still love playing with PC’s and knowing all the latest shit that is happening (i.e. Flock, Web 2.0) I also love getting out into the outdoors and making stuff too. I like the feeling of having an end result. I guess the same can be said for anything (coding comes to mind). I have always liked making stuff, i got that from my Pa. He put something of his own on anything. Moses is a result of that, it has a 12v switch at the front to power a (non-existant) fan.

I also like the feeling of coming home completely grubby (dirty), tired, sore muscles and hungry. To me, that means that i have done something productive. It also helps that i get a kick ass tan, so i’ll be a bit browner the next time people see me. Just got to get the guts up to take the shirt off on-site, or at least wear the old WB (wife beater). I give myself a few more weeks, i dont want to get TOO much skin cancer!

What makes you happy, Champions?

Well i have finally done it. After one and a half semesters, i beat Abby in a plant knowledge test. I’m so happy. The monkey/plant is off my back. Ok that was a bad joke, i know. Mind you i did pass the test as well, so it wasn’t like i failed and still beat her. I think i got better score than my last test.

Disclaimer: Besides the fact that Abby has been really sick for the last week and hasn’t come to College at all. She missed the id section for 7 out of 10 plants that were in the test. Was half cut and sleep deprived, as usual (she parties hard). She still managed a respectable score. She believes that next time my ass will be grass. Bring it on, i am invincable.(or so i like to think at this time)

Well it finally happened, i equalled Abby on a Plant id test!! I also passed this time. Last test i failed, cause i missed a week and then i didnt know what the plants looked like. I still screw up on these plants. But anyhow, im exicited cause normally Abby comes in and blitzes me on them, no matter how hard i study. So im glad i equallied her at least. Next step is to beat her, i only need like 1/2 mark to do that, so yeah. Heres to hoping.

My mates were chatting about me, and thinking that i liked plant porn more than regular porn.

Man that make me so horny……not. Although i do hold a soft spot for it in my little heart. It was special, i’m annoyed it died on the Nullarbor plain when I moved over from Melbourne to Perth.

I used a brick saw today, it was so much fun. I got a bit wet, but that is part of the fun. I wouldn’t like to be doing that job in winter. Your fingers would freeze, mine did in the few mins that i was using the thing. It is quite a powerful machine, i didnt think i was going to chop off my fingers or anything but i was very weary of it. We also did some paving, so it was intersting to see how different patterns in the same area create different space feeling. I can’t wait to do more

That is what i did for the most part of the day, drew lines on concrete for about 2 hours. It was suprisingly good fun! We were drawing lines that were symbols of paving. That is what i was doing, we were finding the half way point of lines, without tape measures and such. Just by using string and chalk. OMG i thought that i would never have to use that sort of maths again. Triangles, are intersting things, i learn how to make them as well, using the disect method. You know the one where you get a section on one end and mark it on the ground then go to the other end and the point where they cross is where your line must go? That is what i did. I also found the centre of a circle, but that is more complex and i kind of screwed it up abit too, got the centre about 10mm out. D’oh, oh well only too another 4 tries to get it right, but we got there! Oh and i also did an oval, that was fun as well. This is proberly the most boring post that everyone is reading so i’ll try and spice it up soon, promise. Lets see what can i say.. oh ooh oooh, i spilt half a drink on my keyboard tonight! That was fun, it was Teachers and coke, so after i tipped the stuff out of the keyboard onto my legs and thus the floor as well, i had to take the keyboard apart and wipe it out competely, was fun to say the least, seeing that i have about 14 screws in the back of my keyboard. It took a while to clean it out. To my suprise though it was pretty good in there. Well i think that i have had quite a rant, mostly about nothing important to anyone.

Paving can be fun, honestly champions

Better homes and gardens has something to answer to! I was watching the show last night, and boy has it got me ranting and raving to my sister. I mean after all the work that ppl like Don Burke, Jamie Durie, Peter Cundall and the Gardening Australia Crew have done to get Botanical names into the light. These morons come and ruin that by only giving the common name! What imbiciles. One thing that they don’t know is that many plants have different common names, so this can be misleading to the least. It has got up my nose, they didn’t even put down the botanical name on the pop up on the screen for most of the plants, again just the common name. Really annoying, cause i liked some of the plants. Now i won’t be buying them, cause they might have a different common name over here to that of the Easterners. Channel 7 and the Better Homes and Garden Crew, thankyou for taking us back into the dark ages.

Why do plants remind us of things? Or invoke images of what they should be used for? I am currently browsing some frangipani photos and wondering why they reminding me of people having them behind their ears and also warm sunny days sitting on a beach. The same thing with roses as well, i always think romantic situations? Is it a conditioning of our society that gives us these afore mentioned ideas? Can the idea of a wattle or waratah to one person mean love and afffection to one person and utter hatered and dispise to another? I’m sure it does thinking about it more. Just trying to challange the perceptions of plants in the environment i guess. Hopefully i’m getting across what i want to say. Bascially what the majority sees as beautiful and brings ideas to mind, others might hate and bring different ideas.
