Catch up

So it has been a while. I have been super busy with life. Working my 2-3 jobs, relaxing with my lady. Travelling around Canada and the Globe, it takes its toll on you. I am a second time uncle again, to another little boy. I think i am expecting a little girl soon, from my other sister, which should be super cool. Who knows one of these days i might even gain the balls to ask as well. Time will tell.

I have a super cool new job, well it is only part time or casual but still super cool. It is a job designed to increase peoples use of there bodies, yup active transportation. So it means getting people out of cars and onto foot and bike and any other means. Anything but using the car, it is really interesting and i am looking forward to the challenges that it provides to me. I am planning on having a meeting with my boss and see where she wants me to go. If it is an open slather kind of job, then i will have my work cut out for me. If i have to play a roll in getting people out of cars, that would also be awesome. I would love to see more people out of there trucks and walking and biking. The winter so far has been very mild and it is great to see the number of people we already have. I would like to have more.

Apart from that exciting news, not much more has managed to happen here. Life is moving along quite nicely. I can’t wait for summer and spring to really start cause then we can start growing veggies and stuff. Yum!

Also i have done some admin stuff on the site, so now it is optimised for mobile devices as well. Sweet stuff!

Really, That long

I didn’t realise that it had been that long since i had posed something on here. I know, i know im slack and blah blah. It seems to be something at the back of the mind that you need to do something. Then it gets shuffled off into some other part of the brain. So i have been teaching, Just at the local college, never the less it has been fun, but nerve racking. I have enjoyed it immensely. The Mac course that i taught for 1 night was awesome fun and lots of people enjoyed it. Whilst the class was small in size it enabled me to do what ever i wanted and let the class decide what they wanted to do. I think of it as similar to a changecamp, but i call it Changeteaching. Not sure if there is something out there already by that name, but hey. Lets jump on the Web 2.0 bandwagon and declare something as cool.

I am travelling to the nations capital on Thursday to see the hearts number one fan, my lady. She is super awesome and has been going to the gym getting healthy and stuff, whilst i have been sitting at home, driving the 5 mins to work and doing nothing. So i almost feel like it is a reversal of roles. Kinda weird, i really need to get more active and start running again so i can loose those New Zealand beer handles! I know that a lot of you that have seen them, say they are not big, but im worried and want to get rid of them as it is getting warm to start running again. Watch out, im donning the reflective pants and bandana again!

I think that is about all that has been happening with me for the last little bit, im on Twitter now, so follow me. I have lots of useless stuff to say. Catch ya round on the internets.

Loving it

I love how when someone else starts blogging, that i know of. I tend to start to want to blog more too. Besides the fact that i am not working as much any more. Hurray! no more 60 hour weeks. I will get to ENJOY the last of summer and the begining of fall (autum) I was dying from working so hard, but hey. I got to my goal for savings so that made things all the much better. Now i can write to you, do my mac course that i have been planning on doing all summer long. Also i can catch up with firends and have some fun!

I had a quick chat tonight with my sis, in NZ and my mum in AUS. God i love skype. I just wish i could do a 3 way video call. That would be cool. I think my folks need a higher plan bandwidth. The picture i get from her is all blocky and distorted. She also can not work out how to plug in the head phones, even though the mac only has 2 places it can go. she is unable to work it out.

So i’m looking forward to catching up on sleep, eating better and then getting fitter. Ski season is coming, i need to start getting my legs in shape. I actually bought ski boots the other day. They are Dalbello Aerro 40′s. They were brand new for under 200 dollars. I love them, and they are the best thing you can get for my money. So now i need to get some ski’s but they could come later.

Townie Bike Race

On 09/08/2008 · 0 Comments

Well we had the first townie bike race of the season. It was a poker hand type race. Where you have clues that you have to follow and then get a poker hand card at each spot. I ended up with nothing. However the good thing that was i came first in the sprint home. It was awesome, everyone was slow off the mark. And good old Franklin was fast and strong to pull thru. It was cool. The victory prize however was funny. It was a sticker book, with no sticker! hello, i wanted stickers. Alas i didn’t get any.

Apart from that selection of fun, i have been working steady and should exceed my savings goal by quite a bit. So that is awesome. 2 jobs really helps you to save.

Thoughts on Money

On 06/06/2008 · 1 Comments

I was browsing the net (looking for a new lense for my camera, 12-24mm f4 Nikon) and read about Ken Rockwell’s thoughts on saving money. Thought some of them are quite good. I am thinking of ditching some of the Credit cards and closing some accounts, to save money. I really don’t like being in debt. So i am trying to get out of it. Starting with my folks. They are in a crunch as well, with Dad not able to work full time and payments from the Government getting cut off etc. Maybe they should start a veggie garden in the front?? (Oh shit, why did i write that mum will do it!) That would save them lots. hehe, But Chickens in the backyard with a excited 2yr old black lab/collie is a BAD IDEA!

I’m not doing to badly with money at the moment. I have 2 full time jobs, so that is giving me lots of money with little time to spend it. I have been doing 14hr days for the last 2 weeks, with weekends off.  I haven’t been following Ken’s ideas about no caffeine! It has sucked but at the same time i have enjoyed i. Working with people sort of has helped to make it more fun. (I work in a Beer store, so that keeps me on my toes. Filling fridges etc ) Knowing that im saving money for going home, and hopefully paying off debt! I am well on the way to reaching my goal for my trip at the end of the year. If i keep on it all summer, i will be set! Then i can start on the Line of Credit. Once that is paid off i need to save for my citizenship! I think i will always have 2 jobs of sorts. It makes sense to use the time your not able to do anything else earning money. I’m not saying to give up having friends and fun.  Some thing that is 3-4 nights a week would be awesome. Still gives you time to have fun and enjoy life.  I have told  Second work that i need at least 1 full day off work, so i can recharge a bit and do things around the house. Like laundry, thou i do have a 1/2 wife in the house that would do it for me. lol NOT! Climb, haven’t done that in a while. Should be able to get out when i get a night off and do it seeing that it stays light till around 10pm most nights and getting later! Woohoo!!

So yes, save your money, and don’t spend it. LOL
